Sergeant Chris Fisher - Warm Springs Police Department - Georgia

On 9/1/26 at approximately 11:57 p.m., Sergeant Chris Fisher of the Warm Springs Police Department (Georgia) was shot and killed outside the Meriwether County Inn at 5675 Spring Street.

Sergeant Fisher had just finished with an unrelated traffic stop in the area. After completing the traffic stop, he went to the Meriwether County Inn. While sitting in his patrol vehicle, a man pulled up next to him and fired into the patrol vehicle, killing Sergeant Fisher at the scene.

The suspect drove away, and a Blue Alert was issued. The suspect was later to be found as a passenger in a vehicle on a traffic stop. The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the traffic stop. Sergeant Fisher had arrested the suspect the week prior.

Sergeant Fisher had served with the Warm Spring Police Department for three months and previously served with the Meriwether County Sheriff's Office, Fayette County Sheriff's Office, and Heard County Sheriff's Office. Survivors include his wife and two children. His father also served in law enforcement.

Our prayers and condolences go out to Sergeant Fisher's family at home as well as within the law enforcement community.
