On 9/28/26, Trooper Hayden Phillips of the Kentucky State Police, was shot and killed in the line of duty on Interstate 65 in Warren County.
Trooper Hayden Phillips had stopped a vehicle that had expired temporary license registration from Tennessee. Flock cameras had picked up the vehicle on multiple occasions between Tennessee and Kentucky.
Trooper Phillips approached the vehicle on the passenger side in order to make contact with the driver. While doing so, the driver shot and killed Trooper Phillips and then fled.
Within 2 1/2 hours, Flock cameras were able to locate an area where the vehicle was. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect and take him into custody. Once the suspect was identified, it was learned that he was on probation but should have been serving a 130 year prison sentence.
Trooper Hayden Phillips, was 27-years-old, and had served with the Kentucky State Police for three years. He was assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green. Survivors include his wife and three children.
Our prayers and condolences go out to his family both at home as well as with the Kentucky State Police.
