Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting - Washington State Patrol - Washington

On December 19, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting of the Washington State Patrol was investigating a two-vehicle crash on State Route 509 south of the Port of Tacoma.

While investigating the vehicle crash and standing outside of her patrol vehicle, Trooper Guting was struck by a passing vehicle.  Despite bystander performing life-saving measures, Trooper Guting succumbed to her injuries.  The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was not cited or charged.

Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was an Army National Guard veteran and had served with the Washington State Patrol for more than 1 year, assigned to District 1. She is survived by her husband.  Our prayers and condolences to Trooper Guting's family at home and with the Washington State Patrol.
