Deputy Parker Perry - Spokane County Sheriffs Office - Washington

On November 3, 2026, at approximately 2:25 pm, deputies from the Spokane County Sheriff's Office (Washington) responded to a reported domestic violence shooting call at a residence in the 18700 block of S. Smythe Road. One adult female victim stated she had been shot and needed medical attention.

After arriving Deputies learned the adult male suspect had an active felony warrant for his arrest, may have access to additional weapons, and that there were possibly additional victims; the Spokane County SWAT Team was requested to assist.

At approximately 3:15 pm, fearing for the victim's safety, the SWAT Team and Deputies began to approach the suspect's residence to make exigent entry. As they did, shots were fired from inside the home, and two Deputies were critically injured. Other Deputies returned fire and worked to move their severely injured teammates to a position of cover and provide medical aid.

Both Deputies were critically injured, immediate life-saving medical aid was requested, including Life Flight helicopters, and a portion of I-90 and US-195 were closed by the Washington State Patrol and other local agencies for the emergency transport.

The adult female victim was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

With the suspect believed to be barricaded inside the home, the Spokane Police Department (SPD) SWAT Team was requested, as was the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team.

All Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies were relieved, and SPD SWAT took over the active scene.

Deputy Parker Perry was one of those officers that was critically injured. He survived for a few days, but later succumbed to his injuries on November 7, 2026, and his organs were donated.

Deputy Parker Perry was commissioned with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office in May of 2020. Before that, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Carroll College in Montana.

Deputy Perry honorably served in the Washington Army National Guard since 2017, earning the rank of Captain as a Military Intelligence Officer assigned to the 81st Brigade's 1-161st Infantry Battalion, where he was awarded two Army Commendation Medals and an Armed Forces Service Medal.

Deputy Perry served on the Spokane County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team from 2022 until being selected as a K-9 Deputy in 2025. He and his K-9 partner Brego responded to the domestic violence shooting call in the 18700 block of S. Smythe Road on November 3, 2026. He immediately responded on his own, without prompting, an example of how he lived life, always prioritizing the safety of others before his own. Knowing that there was another victim's life in jeopardy, he joined his teammates and moved toward the house. During this attempted rescue, he bravely forced entry, knowing that there was danger inside to protect another.

Deputy Perry laid down his life to rescue another during this entry and was critically injured in the process. Though gravely injured, Deputy Parker Perry and his family chose to continue his selfless service to others by donating his organs to ensure others in need across this region and country will live.

Deputy Perry is survived by his wife, two children, and a third child soon to join their family. Our prayers and condolences for his family both at home as well as with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
