On September 24, 2026, K9 Kylo, with the Portland Police Bureau, was shot and killed in the line of duty.
K9 Kylo was on his last day of duty before retiring and was assisting a multi-agency operation involving the United States Marshals. They were attempting to arrest a violent offender at the Chestnut Tree Inn near Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 97th Avenue. While attempting to arrest this individual, gunfire ensued and K9 Kylo was struck. The suspect was killed.
K9 Kylo was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
K9 Kylo served the Portland Police Bureau for six years and was set to retire the following day.
